Scale
Meeting 12/12/04
Construction Adventure
Continues...
This
month's meeting was open to the public and was also held at Erickson Guitars. Once again were glad to see more new interest in SCALe. Once agan we addeda new member. We would like to welcome Tony Andreoli to our ever growing list of distinguished members.
This was an interesting meeting because it was
decided that the SCALe members would all participate in constructing a
classical guitar. Each member will take turns working on the project.
Once completed the instrument will be used for publicity and then sold
to benefit the groups future plans. We may end up will five instruments
or five attempts to make one instrument. This may sound funny but Gary
bought enough wood to make five necks so he as cut out five neck
blanks. We will see what the future brings. There willl diffinitely be
room for error. Erickson Guitars is donating the materials for the
project all we need to do is provide the labor. Sounds fun. Can't wait
to continue the project.
Here
are the subjects that were
covered in the meeting:
Neck fitting on dovetail tenon joint
Classical guitar neck construction using quarter sawn red cedar 4"x4"
Neck rough layout and rough cutting
