Recording Artist, Royce Craft,
visits SCALe

This months meeting was a really enjoyable. Recording Artist Royce Craft
entertained us with a few demos on Gary's Theory "Z" equipped Acoustic,
(more on that later), Matty Baratto show of his unique Cigfiddles, and Betty
Anderson enlightened us to what can be done with a guitar strap and a little
imagination.
The meeting go started with the usual new member introductions and the
passing out of Gary's always informative handouts. This done, a few topics
were raised and general business questions answered. I was decided that
a suggestion and resource form be made for feedback from the members.
The form will be posted on the membership side of our SCALe web site.
    Next up was
Matty Baratto and his unique Cigfiddles. They are really more
like a cross between a good playing mandolin and a short scale guitar, than a
fiddle which requires a bow. But no matter what you call them, they are a
pleasure to play. Their unique sound is just right for many types of music.

Gary introduces

Matty Baratto
         of
Baratto Guitars

These distinctive instruments, Matty has
dubbed Cigfiddles, feature the same
general construction as a quality acoustic
guitar. Bracing and neck support are
attended through the sound (cigar) box.
The neck is a short scale guitar neck
with from 4 to 8 strings models available.
The bridge is similar to a mandolin bridge
and the tailpiece is similar to a banjo tailpiece.
