| What are these two up to. Gary has as
few of what he calls junkers. Matty Baratto is working the sharpened
paint spatula into an existing crack in the side. Gary wants to lift
the top off to expose the bracing. |

Matty is kind of worried but he soon understands that in this case quicker is better, and this is a throw away guitar. |
| If this were a real repair, Matty would have
taped off many sections for protection and pre cut the edge with a razor blade. Next the fingerboard has to be detached from the top. Below Matty is astounded and kind of pleased to see Gary trash this demo instrument by chopping through the top where it is glued at the neck block. I think this is every guitar repairman's dream at one time or another. Gary is having fun and also in the interest of saving time, he is taking out his aggressions on this poor guitar. After making guitars for 36 years I guess he is entitled to some therapy. Matty looks like he is enjoying the therapy too. |

Ah! Finally we see the top. Not exactly what we expected. This piece of plywood junk does not have any of the typical bracing patterns. So Gary shows us what the pattern might be for an acoustic guitar and then uses the handouts to show the variations in classical and acoustic bracing patterns. |
